History was made by the Pratt Community College women's soccer team in an away match against Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Beavers defeated the Mavericks for the second time this year which gave them their sixth win of the season. Pratt shut out Northwest for a score of 3-0.

Freshman Goalkeeper Haven Johannsen helped guide the Beavers to their fourth clean sheet in the 2018 season. During the full 90 minutes of play Johannsen had 16 saves.

On the offensive end, midfielder Isabella Battaglia knocked in two goals for PCC. She was assisted on both scores by fellow midfielder Ariana Temblador and forward Quemberli Merida. Battaglia returned the favor in the match by sending a ball of her own for Merida to score on.

Pratt took 15 shots on target as a team. The leader in attempts was Battaglia with five strikes. Tied for the second most shots was Temblador and Merida with three apiece.

The victory marks the most wins by a team in the history of the women's soccer program at PCC. Head Coach Ashley Burnett and her team comprised of 10 freshman and eight sophomores amassed the most wins in a single year with two games remaining in the regular season.

"This was the main goal for the team this year. The girls bought in to it and knew what the win would mean. It's a huge milestone for the program and gives us something to keep building on for the season to come. The girls have worked so hard for this moment and they are very deserving of the accomplishment," said Burnett.

Women's soccer looks to break more than one record this year with the help of Merida, who is a single score away from having the most goals by any player in a single season at PCC. As a true freshman, Merida is currently tied for the record at eight goals.

With two matches left in the season the Beavers have the opportunity to continuously update their own records. The final game of the season will be against Hesston College, who the Beavers defeated 4-0 in a previous matchup.

PCC will start to wind down the season with a match against Hutchinson Community College on Oct. 17. The Beavers will look to build on their accolades beginning at 6 p.m.
