Women's Soccer Set to Start Conference Play at Neosho County

The Beaver women's soccer team is set to start conference play at Nesoho County on Saturday, September 2 at 1:00 PM in Chanute, KS. The team currently sits at 1-1-2 from the month of August with their one win being against Tabor College (JV) on August 23. Their only loss is against Northeastern Junior College last weekend in Colorado. The team has drawn with both Lamar and Kansas Wesleyan (JV).

"Up and down... we started off really well at Tabor. We had a really tough couple of games in Colorado with no rest and then did not play well the other night against Kansas Wesleyan," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Thomas Gaskell. "We have a really young team so we are going to flucauate becuase of the inexperience. They are excited for the first conference game."

The Neosho County Panthers are 1-0-1 to start the season having dropped down to the division two level. They won their opening match Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College 4-0 at home in Chanute, KS and then tied against Hawkeye Community College. The Panthers finished 3-13 overall and 1-12 in conference play in the KJCCC D1 East division.

"We have a really tough conference openening week with Neosho dropping down from D1 and then against our rivals Allen County on Wednesday," said Coach Gaskell. "You couldn't have asked for a much tougher start, but if you get two good results then you set yourselves up really well so that is what we have to aim for."
