Women's Soccer Ends Season With a 3-1 Loss at Central

The Beaver women's soccer team wrapped up their 2023 season on October 18 on the road at Central Community College in Columbus, NE. The team finished the season 3-9-4 overall and 2-8-2 in conference play. Two conference wins came against Southeast Community College.  

Game Recap 

In a thrilling women's soccer match, Central emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Pratt. The game displayed impressive performances from both teams, but Central strong second-half display secured them the victory. The first half saw the Beavers take an early lead with a goal from Rosina Mastro, assisted by Madeline Martinez. Despite several attempts from both teams, Pratt held onto their 1-0 advantage heading into halftime. 

The Raiders came out determined in the second half and quickly equalized the score in the 55th minute. Abby Berger found the back of the net, assisted by Lilli Reiser, leveling the playing field at 1-1. Central took the lead in the 65th minute with a goal from Ellie Bates, courtesy of Jada Cohn's assist. The team's scored again in the 75th minute when Francesa Wright scored, assisted by Talia Gisonni, extending the lead to 3-1. 

For Pratt, goalkeeper Marcie Greenawalt put in a commendable performance, making two saves despite conceding three goals. Rosina Mastro's early goal highlighted her attacking prowess. Central's Jada Cohn played a crucial role in the team's victory, providing an assist for Ellie Bates' goal. Lilli Reiser and Talia Gisonni also contributed assists, while Abby Berger and Francesa Wright both scored. 

Season Recap 

Freshman Rosina Mastro lead the team with eight goals on 26 shots and 17 total points in 12 games. Both Yvie Miller and Laila Ortiz-Nolan lead the team with four assists. Yvie had 2 goals with eight points on the season and Laila had four goals with 12 points. In the goalie box, freshman Kaylee Farmer lead the team with 28 saves on 8 goals allowed. Farmer ended the season 1-3-2 in the box. While Macie Greenawalt had four saves with seven goals allowed and ended the year 1-1-1. Overall, the team scored 22 goals in 15 games with 19 assists.
