Pratt volleyball takes all three sets against Dodge City

The Pratt Community College volleyball team earned their first conference win while on the road in Dodge City, Kan. The Beavers clinched a victory in straight sets over Dodge City Community College 3-0 (25-23; 26-24; 25-19).

In the first set the Beavers had a team hitting percentage of .364. Freshman Morgan Bullinger led her team in hitting percentage on the day. Bullinger did not make a single hitting error while playing all three sets to earn a hitting percentage of .800. Setter Olivia Hessman also contributed to the team's significantly high attack percentage by earning six kills on 12 attempts while making only a single error. Hessman hit .417 in the game.

The team had six service aces compared to Dodge's one. Four of the team's aces came from Libero Naomi Warren. Warren Also averaged four digs per set in the match. Behind her was defensive specialist Gabrielle Ediger who earned 11 digs in the 3-set contest.

Pratt proved to be the more dominant team in the third set when they began to pull away on the scoreboard and held a significant lead. PCC led by as many as 11 points during set three. The Beavers held Dodge City to only eight kills in the final set. Pratt took their biggest margin of victory in set three with a final score of 25-19.

"Defensively I think our block did a great job. We averaged 2.7 blocks per set. We were able to keep Dodge out of system most of the time, therefore, we knew where they were going with the ball," said head coach Jenny Mueller.

PCC volleyball continues conference play against Seward County Community College on Sep. 19. The Beavers and Saints will go head-to-head starting at 6:30 p.m.
