Pratt pulls out the brooms against Friends JV

The Pratt Community College volleyball team competed against the Friends University Junior Varsity team at home in Pratt, Kan. The Beavers earned their third home victory of the season by the end of the night. Pratt went on to sweep Friends 3-0, (25-13; 25-19; 25-17)

A variety of players contributed to putting numbers in the win column for Pratt. PCC introduced 14 different athletes in the 3-set contest. Many individuals produced season-high numbers.

Freshman setter Finehika Uhatafe put up her first double-digit assist performance of the year. Uhatafe racked up 10 assists in just two sets played.

Many assists from Uhatafe came by way of dominant swings from middle blocker Haley Gleason. While appearing in only two sets, Gleason came alive to match her season high of five kills and did so with only nine swings at the ball.

The Beavers put on a serving clinic against Friends. As a unit, Pratt distributed 10 service aces. Right side hitter Morgan Bullinger bombarded the Friends back row with five aces. In similar fashion, libero Naomi Warren terrorized from the end line as well with three point-scoring serves of her own.

The game against Friends marks the last time PCC will go head-to-head with a non-conference opponent. In the remainder of the regular season Pratt will play four conference matches. Three of these games will be at home. The only road game remaining on the Beavers' schedule is against Independence Community College, who Pratt defeated 3-0 in a previous matchup.

PCC volleyball hosts their next match against Seward County Community College on Oct. 17. The first serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
