The Pratt Community College volleyball team faced No. 8 Seward County Community College for the second time this season. The Beavers hosted the Saints for one of their few remaining home matches of the year. Seward County returned home with a win by the end of the night 3-0, (25-18, 25-20, 25-16).

PCC showed up to play against their nationally ranked conference foe. Double-digit kills in the first two sets of the match kept Pratt within a fighting chance. The blue and white were led by Remyngton Green (8 kills) and Elise Baranco (6 kills) on the offensive end.

The Beavers were determined to take a set over the Lady Saints, who have only dropped one set in conference play this year. Pratt held leads at times throughout the last two sets. In set two Pratt went on a 6-2 run that put them ahead 20-19 and forced a Saints timeout. Pratt was unfortunately not able to close out the set. Seward County reorganized their offense during the timeout and managed to earn multiple kills to take set two.

Set three continued to be competitive until the Saints began to slowly pull away. A combination of earned points from the Beavers and missed serves from Seward county let Pratt close the gap to 15-14. A lack of kills is what ultimately drove PCC out of the final set.

PCC volleyball plays in conference again when they face Independence Community College on Oct. 19. The Beavers will hit the road early for a 6:30 p.m. start time in Independence, Kan.
