Pratt Announces 2023 Volleyball Schedule

Pratt Announces 2023 Volleyball Schedule

Pratt Community College and Head Volleyball Coach Brittney Urenda are excited to announce the 2023 volleyball schedule. The team will play five games in August before opening conference play on September 2nd on the road at Butler.

"It is exciting to have a team full of my own recruits," said Coach Urenda. "It will be exciting to get them all here and see what we can put together talent wise. The group that we have coming back is a good core group that went through adversity last year and they know how to handle that. So, when the tough times come this season, I think they will be able to help the freshman understand that it is not always hard, and it does get better.

The Beavers will open their season on the road at Cowley College on August 17. They will then travel to Clarendon, TX for a triangular with Clarendon College and Dallas College Cedar Valley on August 22. The team will make their home debut on August 30 in another triangular against Lamar and Kansas Wesleyan (JV). Pratt will compete in seven total triangulars this season with five of them being in the Beaver Dome. Pratt will host Cloud County and Independence on September 27, Rose State and McPherson College (JV) a few days later on September 29, and Bethany College (JV) and Friends University (JV) on October 2. Their last triangular of the season will take place at home on October 16 against Clarendon College and Ottawa University (JV).

"Opening up with Cowley will be a good challenge. They made it to nationals the last two years and been undefeated in their conference as well. I think playing someone at such a high level of competition will show us what we can do better on and capitalize on," said Coach Urenda. "The two triangulars it's just about getting us some more games in before we start conference with Butler at the beginning of September."

Pratt will open conference play at home against Colby on September 6 before traveling to Rose State and Seminole State in Oklahoma. To finish the month of September the team will play Hutchinson, Garden City, Barton, Dodge City and Seward before traveling to Friends University (JV) on September 25. The only other non-conference game in October besides the triangular on October 16 will be at Fort Scott on October 7. The final home game will take place on September 25 against Seward County for sophomore night before wrapping up their regular season on the road at Cloud County on October 28.

"I think this year everybody is still looking at us as the easy game and I don't think that will be the case," said Coach Urenda. It will be exciting to see where we fall with some of the changes in the conference. Nobody knows what is going to show up and what type of team anybody will be this year."
