Beaver Volleyball Splits in Season Opening Triangular

The Pratt Community College volleyball team opened their season this past Friday, Aug. 26 with matches against Rose State College and the No. 1 ranked Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kan. The team defeated Rose State 3-1 and lost a hard-fought battle 3-0 against Cowley to start their season 1-1.  

The Beavers came out of the gate strong against the Raiders of Rose State winning set one 25-17. Pratt fell behind in the second set and could not catch up, losing 25-22. Pratt won set three 25-9 and set four 25-14 to start their season 1-0.  

Against the defending national champions and No. 1 ranked Cowley Tigers the Beavers lost in straight sets (25-16, 25-14, 25-15). Francesca Battaglia led the team with 34 total attacks including seven kills and six digs. Sophomore Rylie Hallman had 14 assists in the match.  

Pratt will travel to Lamar, Colo. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 for a triangular against Lamar Community College and Amarillo College. Games are set for 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
