Beavers Ready For First Appearance in NJCAA Region Six Tournament Since 2021

The Pratt Community College volleyball team has qualified for the NJCAA region six tournament for the first time since the 2021 season. The team finished their season 7-23 overall and 3-13 in conference play. The Beavers defeated Seward County Community College back on September 23 to end a conference losing streak dating back to 2021 and the first time since 2015 that Pratt had defeated Seward County. The other two conference wins came against Cloud County Community College which was the first time since 2017 that Pratt defeated Cloud County.

"I am very pleased with how the season went, especially being so young. I think that just goes to show that next year will be something to look forward to," said head volleyball coach Brittany Urenda.

The Beavers will travel on Wednesday, Nov. 6 to the No. seven ranked Barton Community College Cougars for the opening round of the NJCAA region six tournament. The Cougars have a 28-2 overall record and won their second straight KJCCC conference title with a 21-1 conference record. Pratt traveled to Great Bend, Kan. to open conference play back on September 9 and lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-19) with sophomore Rylie Hallman finishing the game with 15 assists and 13 digs. When Barton visited the Beavers a month later, Pratt again put up a fight, but lost 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-15). Freshman libero Natalie Martinez finished the game with 18 digs while Hallman had 21 assists.

Coach Urenda had this to say about the match, "We do not have anything to lose, so we might as well go in there and if it is our last game then it should be our best game. If it is not our last game, it is also going to have to be our best game to make it onto the second round."
