Beavers Pick Up Series Win Over NOC-Tonkawa

The Pratt baseball team picked up their first series win 3-1 over the Mavericks of Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa this past Thursday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 18. After the dropping game one 6-5 the Beavers won the next three games to win the four-game series. 

Game One Recap 

In game one, Northern Oklahoma College came out on top with a final score of 6-5. Pratt started off strong, scoring runs in the first, third, and fifth innings. However, the Mavericks fought back with runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings to secure the win. 

Pratt's Peyton Mitchell had a standout performance at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. On the mound for the Beavers was Jace Doelitsch who gave up eight hits and four runs including three earned runs in four innings pitched. Sophomore Matthew St. Pe was credited for the loss in one inning pitched with two earned runs.  

Game Two Recap 

In game two, Pratt came out on top with a final score of 13-3. The Beavers had a strong offensive showing, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits with no errors, while Northern Oklahoma College managed only 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 error. 

Pratt's offense was led by Ben Waliczek, who had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Gavin Djurovic, who also had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Drew Bugner contributed 3 hits and 2 RBIs. On the pitching side, Josh Doelitsch earned the win, pitching 4 innings and allowing only 1 run on 1 hit with 5 strikeouts. 

Game Three Recap 

Day two of the four game series started with a 7-3 Pratt win. The Beavers got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning. They continued to add to their lead with four more runs in the fourth inning. The Mavericks tried to mount a comeback with two runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh, but it was not enough to overcome Pratt's lead. 

The Beavers offense was led by Ben Waliczek, who had two hits and an RBI, and Jaden Flores, who contributed a hit and two RBIs. On the pitching side, Dalton Mantz had an impressive performance, pitching three scoreless innings and earning the win. 

Game Four Recap 

In the final game of the series, Pratt came out on top with a final score of 9-5. The Beavers started off strong, scoring runs in the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. Their offense was led by Ben Waliczek and Jaden Flores, who both had multiple hits and RBIs in the game.  

Pitcher Carson Padgett had a solid performance on the mound, allowing only one run in four innings of work. Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa tried to mount a comeback in the fifth inning, scoring four runs, but it was not enough to overcome Pratt's lead.

The Beavers will host Dallas Fort Worth Post Grad for a three-game series starting on Friday, Feb. 23 at 12:30 PM. Games will take place at the Green Sports Complex.
