Beavers Compete At Wilson Invitational

The Pratt Community College track and field program was back in action this past weekend, January 26-28 at the Wilson Invitational at Wichita State University. The Beavers brought home six top-5 finishes and one top-10 finish. In addition, Pratt competed in the men's indoor heptathlon for the first time under the current coaching staff.  

Freshman Aiden Skiles finished twelfth overall in the heptathlon with 3907 points. Skiles started the heptathlon in the 60M dash with a time of 7.50. In the shot put, Skiles finished with the shot put with a throw of 9.35m and completed the long jump with a top-10 finish with a jump of 5.86m. He ended day one of the heptathlon with the high jump and a jump of 1.83m to finish third in the event.  

On day two, Skiles competed in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.24, the pole vault with a jump of 2.70m and completed his heptathlon with a first-place finish in the 1000m run with a time of 5:51.32. Other men's results from the meet included a first-place preliminary finish in the 60m dash for Joseph Michel. 

In the 60m finals, Michel finished third with Kareem Small finishing behind him in fifth place with a time of 6.92. Sophomore Quintin Johnson finished the 800m run in third with a time of 2:01.88. To end the evening for the men's team the 4x400m relay team of JaMauri Brooks-Davis, Sebastion Gilbreath, Daniel Amparan and Quintin Johnson finished second overall with a time of 3:26.16.  

For the women, Mikayla Henry finished fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.79. Freshman Riley Grusing finished tenth in the 800m run with a time of 2:42.73. To wrap-up the women's results is a second-place finish for the 4x400m relay team consisting of Serenity Jackson, Mikayla Henry, Naomi Vagher, and Tasia Bell.  

The Beaver track and field team will return to action next weekend, February 2-3 at the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan.
