Women's Basketball Set for Postseason Play at Seward County

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College women's basketball team has earned the eleventh seed in the 2025 NJCAA Region Six D1 Basketball Tournament. The team finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-22 and 3-21 in conference play. The Beavers will travel to Liberal, Kan. on Saturday, Mar. 8 to face the Saints of Seward County Community College at 7:00 p.m.

The Saints enter the tournament as the sixth seed and finished with an overall record of 19-11 and 14-10 in conference play. Both teams have faced each other twice this season with Seward County winning both games and the series 2-0. In game one, back on November 30 the Saints defeated Pratt at home 82-57 with La'Kyra Johnson leading the team with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Beavers hosted Seward County on February 1 and lost 86-45 with Johnson finishing the game with 13 points.

"I like our matchup because it was either going to be them or Cowley and Cowley have been a bad matchup for a lot of teams this year with the way that they play. I like the match up with Seward, it is a little bit more like us, but they are more athletic, in spots so it is still going to be a tough game," said head women's basketball coach Christopher Jefferson. "Going there, it is a hard place to play in and I just hope you have got enough left in the tank after playing Cloud County really tough on Wednesday night."

With a win the Beavers would travel to El Dorado, Kan. to take on the fourth seed Butler Community College on Tuesday, Mar. 11.
