Beaver Wrestling Prepped For Final Week of Regular Season

The No. two ranked Pratt Community College wrestling program returns to action this week, January 31, and February 1 to wrap up their conference dual season. First up, is a trip out to Goodland, Kan. to wrestle the No. ten ranked Northwest Tech Mavericks and the Cowley College Tigers. The team will then return to the Beaver Dome for their rescheduled dual against Neosho County on February 1. The Beavers are wrestling for their fourth straight KJCCC conference championship and with three dual wins the team will achieve this historic goal.  

#10 Northwest Tech Preview 

Currently the Mavericks sit at 6-4 overall with a 5-0 conference record heading into the last week of the regular season. The team's only losses came against Northern Colorado, Nebraska-Kearney, Western Wyoming, and North Idaho. Northwest Tech brings four ranked wrestlers into the dual including No. ten ranked Job Lee (157-lbs), No. one ranked wrestler Otgonbayar Batsuuri (174-lbs), No. four ranked Lazaro Crespo (184-lbs), and finally No. six ranked Gavin Dodge at 197-pounds. The Beavers have remained undefeated against Northwest Tech since the 2018-19 season. The dual will be the final event of the evening taking place at 7:30 p.m. MT.  

Cowley Preview

The Beavers will start their evening in Goodland, Kan. by facing the Cowley Tigers at 6:30 p.m. MT. Most recently, the Tigers faced Cloud County and were defeated 34-3 with the only win of the night coming from Stefaan Fearro at 285-lbs. Cowley currently sits at 4-1 in the conference with dual wins over No. ten ranked Labette, Barton, Neosho, and Colby. In addition, the Tigers have been nationally ranked throughout this season, previously being ranked No. 25 up until their loss against Cloud County.   

Neosho Co. Preview 

The dual against Neosho County has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 1 at 7:00 PM in the Beaver Dome. The Panthers currently sit at 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference duals. Due to the inclement weather, Neosho County has only wrestled Cowley College and Colby from the conference thus far. They defeated Colby on January 17 48-8. The Panthers will wrestle Labette on January 31 before making the trip to Pratt, Kan the following day. The team will also wrestle Cloud County in the Beaver Dome starting at 5:30 PM.

After this week, the Beavers will take a week off before traveling to Great Bend, Kan. on February 10 for the NJCAA South Central District Wrestling Tournament taking place at Barton Community College.
